The release of NBA 2K21 saw The City host four boroughs. This was an increase in the size of the game. It is possible that NBA 2K22 will be expanding to more areas, giving players more options and allow them to pick where they want to concentrate. Four boroughs have brought four Rival Affiliations.
This could be expanded in NBA 2K22. There's always the chance that NBA 2K22 sticks to the existing quartet, however expanding it would provide players more options in deciding which Affiliation best fits them.
The City introduced Mayors in NBA 2K21, and this included a democratized process to pick a new Mayor that served in a 6-week time frame. The Mayor had the ability to create playlists and video change court and mural designs, and change uniform selections. This capability could expand with NBA 2K22. Even with a release delayed by a few months as the title landed on Next Gen consoles, NBA 2K21's introduction of The City did a lot of things right.
It was huge in terms of dimensions and the variety of activities players could take part in. The unique experience was what set NBA 2K21 apart among other sports games. NBA 2K22 doesn't need to remove any of the things they excelled in NBA 2K21, but there is room for improvement to make the mode even better as they plan for an Next Gen launch.
NBA 2K21 was one of the new additions. MyWNBA and The W were also added to the mix. However, NBA 2K22 offers the opportunity to incorporate The WNBA MyPLAYERs in The City. The game features entirely player-generated stars so there is no reason to believe that male and female MyPLAYERS shouldn't be combined into The City with its next release.!
