I do not usually post things about Runescape anymore, but I'd love to bring up something from my experience in RS for a participant and pker I've noticed that in comparison to regular gamers pkers bot far more frequently. I have a lot of expertise in pking, also I have noticed that a lot of people seem to have botted from real evidence while I was training to very questionable levels they acquired (99 str 20 att as a rather large example, 90-99 in skills on level 40-60 accounts also.) With this fantastic amount of botters who also are pkers, it feels like there is an obvious trend.
People are botting since they think the only fun in runescape is pking and that training for levels to pk with is dull. This leads them to then rationalize that botting is fine since it isn't doing anything to influence different players, it is simply letting them not have to play at a dull environment to get a fantastic accounts for pking. Also, I believe that the majority of folks who move on private servers do not go on them because they were prohibited or to get rwting or for some other reason, the majority of people just wish a enjoyable time pking without grinding levels at a good account.
On coaching my 3rd pking accounts in 2010, I have even contemplated botting since it's rather obvious to anyone who has coached a pking account that it is dull as hell. In retrospect I was lucky because at the time a lot of accounts were stolen by botting websites and I chose partially based on it would not be smart to create a pking account through botting. With this said, there obviously is a problem that Jagex isn't addressing. People who bot appear to get bored with the concept of gaining levels to pk with, and with great reason. Pkers who want to train their levels in the classic way of killing mobs have been required to kill the same mobs for years, its constantly minotaurs or monks or some other grindable mob.
